Automatic
Watches
A common complaint I receive from aging gentlemen is that their automatic
watch stops and starts after running beautifully for years. In many
cases, it is not the watch that has slowed but the lifestyle of its
owner. The truth is, even I have put away my automatic watch because
I am no longer as active as I used to be. Though some finer automatic
watches have a better movement that self-winds faster, all automatics
require motion to keep time. When fully wound, an automatic watch
will keep time for up to 25-35 hours. If you’re finding your
automatic is stopping and starting and it's in good condition and
winds properly, manually wind your crown 10 to 15 times a day to
give it the boost it needs to keep time with you.
